Laura Thompson Design and Illustration Represented for Art Licensing by Suzanne Cruise Creative Services

Some wonderful news from the beginning of the year. Suzanne from Suzanne Cruise Creative Services approached me via my website: "Your work is fun, have you thought about art licensing?". Thus began our chats back and forth about the industry and her astonishing longevity within the art licensing. I have officially joined the SCCS team of artists for the next year.

What is Art Licensing?

Basically, artists and designers often work in two ways, creating artwork or designs which they sell outright, where the copyright transfers to the art buyer. Or the art work is licensed to the art buyer, art director or manufacturing company for a specific purpose, for a set amount of time and for use within a particular geographic area, in this instance the copyright remains with the artist. This is art licensing.

Art licensing routes are commonly used in product manufacture of ranges for home decor, fashion, tabletop, party ware, card and stationary etc. Other areas that often license art include: Books, Calendars, Canvas Tote Bags, Decorative Pillows, Dinner Ware, Embroidery Cards, Fabric Kits, Flags, Greeting Cards, Gift Bags, Hand Painted Ornaments, Home Decor, Lighted Glass Lamps, Mats and Rugs, Napkins, Over The Counter Fabric, Puzzles, Stretched Canvas, Tableware, Table Runners, Wall Decor,Yard Signs and Mailbox Covers.

Above is a little taster of my art licensing portfolio. My work is usually bright, bold, colourful and fun, featuring wildlife, animals, flowers and plants. I am constantly updating my portfolio on the Suzanne Cruise art licensing website, and responding to specific art buyer calls. I am also happy to be commissioned. Here is a link to my artist's page, however, to see my art available to license, you must register.

If you are an art buyer or art director wishing to license art, you can register through Suzanne Cruise Creative Services website here>
